New ZipRealty Feature

Ok, this is not a POS post. I just wanted you to know of a new feature offered by ZipRealty.com:
Customer Home Reviews – customers can now post home reviews on any home they see for sale on our website. So far, we have had a pretty healthy number of reviews coming in from our clients. We have seen things from comparable sales, estimates from Zillow, and qualitative reviews of homes (roach-infested, etc…). Reviews are based on curb appeal, interior appeal, neighborhood, and an overall rating. Customers can also provide their own comments.
So have at it. Let these Marin sellers know what you really think of their POSs.

Power to the people!

This is a cool idea, but I wonder if it will take off. If a buyer really likes the place, they will be more inclined to purchase it themselves instead of giving it a rave review for someone else to buy it.

I guess some people will still be able to give good reviews if they actually liked it minus the price or neighbors trying to get the old owner out.

This might work well for track houses where features are repeated for other houses for sale. But I can just imagine veiled marketing flooding the reviews that water down the whole point.

I posted a couple of honest, but scathing (scathing, but honest?) remarks and they actually did publish them. They were honest assessments, not just across the board disses.

Another feature that is useful, but easy to miss, is the new box to check off under "price" to list only properties that have undergone a price reduction. Now that's interesting!
