Speechless in San Rafael

I'm speechless. What can I say about this PoS? Absolutely nothing has been done to this 1930s era, 2 br 1 bath San Rafael house. Nothing. It's for sale for $699,000. This is Marin after all...God's country or so it's said. You know, where the streets are paved with gold, the fountains are flowing with wine, and the local "aristocracy" pass marble. You would think for that price you'd get a decent house. Who looks at this and says to themselves "yes, that is worth every penny"?

I thought I recognized this place. Here are the stats from domania:

Close Month:Feb 05
Price: $693,000
Bed/Bath: 3/1
SF: 1755
Lot size: 7405
Year build: 1930

So here is a real example of the balloon letting out air -- a miniscule $6k gain (<1%) in the past year. This is a better indicator than overall medians since this removes "market mix" (which can skew numbers) from the equation. I would imagine that with the short ownership period, there is some seller distress going on.

How could anyone recognize this dump? Isn't this a picture of the back yard?

You know Anon, that's an interesting observation: it DOES look like the back yard.

Front or back though, it's a really crappy yard no matter which way you slice it.

Wonder how many St Joe statues he's got buried around there.

Whatever happened to the days of "sprucing things up" so you could sell a house?

People have lost it thoroughly and completely.

It is the back side. That view better shows off this property's "virtues".

Yeah, it's the back but it is not hard to chase down the listing on greathomes.org. I recognized the front of the house from the listing.
