Uncle Ben Lives in Novato

Bring your imagination & contractor tool belt to make this bungalow yours. Beautiful level lot, mature trees, backyard privacy, borders a quiet lane & diablo ave.
This looks like Uncle Ben's Cabin. I think I can even see the moonshine jug. And the contrast between the picture of this Novato POS and the agent's write-up is laughable. It comes in at 604 sq ft, 2 br 1 ba, built 1935, asking $510,000.

There's been a large spike in the number of new listings following Labor Day, 2006. So I expect there to be a lot of new Marin crap out there to blog.

My favorite part of the ad is:
"Pg&e and water makes this a great alternative to buying just a lot... Sellers & agent do not guarantee anything."

Another Marin POS: MLS# 20632224 - Shower for sale, drain included. $525,000

Ok, that shack sits on .2 acres, but $510K is far too much for that land. What a joke, it's tough to say anything about these wrecks.

Hmmm. Located on "diablo ave." Do you really need any other proof that you have a home in hell?

How can you fit 2BR into 600 sq. ft.?

Maybe there's no LR?

Marin real estate is quickly becoming divided into two distinct segments: brand spanking new, gigantic McMansions, and broken-down old crap shacks like this one. There seems to be no middle ground. In this, Marin real estate is mimicking the population of the country as a whole, in that the "Middle Class" many of us remember from a few decades ago is rapidly disappearing. Certainly it is disappearing from Marin, since it can no longer afford a house there.

Ive decided to leave Long Island NY and move to Marin. You must all be millionaires! Im coming to get a job that pays 250-400k annually too.

All of you in Marin have been very sneaky keeping this amazing utopia a secret from the rest of the U.S.

I'm a graphic designer so i figure i should be able to make about 250k+ a year. Here i come!!!!!

He makes about $60K as an art director.

He must love that job to keep going for just $60K--and all that work. I guess I admire those who don't have to work, but decide not to slack their lives away.

Do you have the buyers' address? I'm a contractor in Sonoma and I'd like to charge them a fortune to remodel it. (kidding about the charges, but I really am a contractor in Sonoma.

Unbelievable!
