Old World Dump
Built in 1907; 1862 sq ft. Absolutely nothing has been done to this house (e.g., master bath is a shower-over-the-tub sort of thing). According to the realtor write-up..."old world charm" (translation: it's a PoS). Price: $1,390,000. Get a clue people.
I like that spindly chimney supported by external bracing. Which town is this located in? By the price, I'll guess MV or CM.
It could be interesting to compare these Marin homes against "the competition"-- comparably priced homes just outside the county. For example, here's what $1M+ gets you north of Marin.
If $1M buys you a dumpy home here, doesn't that make Marin a dump for ~ 90% of homebuyers? Take 50-60% off a Marin home, and you might be approaching a competitive value.
Last year I visited an open house for a house like this one. It was in Larkspur. It was asking $1.2 million at the time. It featured a cracked and slumping foundation, water seaping through the walls in the cellar, leaning walls, slanted 2nd storey floors.
It sold for asking. People are so stupid when they allow the herd to govern their decision-making.
